MIPS means Multi-directional Impact Protection System. Its main function is to reduce the rotational forces caused by certain blows to the head. By allowing a slight sliding movement of the shell relative to the liner upon impact, MIPS helps to redirect and dissipate harmful rotational energy that would otherwise be transferred to the brain.
